Although VCE language classrooms are generally made up of motivated students, there are nevertheless common issues that face many Language teachers, whether new or experienced. This full-day session will look at a range of teaching and learning activities that can help teachers to overcome some of these problems and lead to more effective, successful language-learners in their VCE classrooms. This includes approaches and strategies for:
-    learning and revising vocabulary
-    improving listening skills
-    introducing and consolidating grammatical
structures
-    helping students who are 'good at grammar' but
unable to apply this in their writing
-    lifting the standard of students' written work
-    helping students to learn from mistakes
-    improving oral skills
-    developing Outcomes and practice assessment
tasks that are well-designed and appropriate
-    preparing students for both oral and written
examinations
This seminar would also be very useful for teachers of Year 10, and would help them to equip their students with the skills and approaches to learning that would lead to greater success in their VCE studies.
