Parents know their child can do better but it isn't happening in your classroom? Actual ability is not reflected in their output in the classroom? NAPLAN test shows they have not reached required benchmarks for language or maths? Difficulties have been identified as: ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, Aspergersor Gifted? Behaviour in class is a problem or if is worrying you? If you answered YES to any of the above, please read on! Most students with a learning difficulty switch off or give up, some show signs of inattention or struggle to follow instructions and get tasks finished. They are often the trouble makers in the classroom. Find out how to understand and engage these children. March 5th, 2012 Learn skills and strategies to: - Identifying visual spatial learners in your classroom. - Recognize the co existing problems that affect their learning. - Create lessons to use students cognitive strengths. - Analyse whether a program, lesson or activity is suitable for visual spatial thinkers. - Communicate and manage kids who disengage in language based learning. - Visual spatial learners or pictures thinkers who are currently failing at school can achieve much more when their teachers understand how to access and engage their cognitive strengths. March 6th, 2012 - Recognize the cognitive strengths and weaknesses that affect literacy learning. - Discover how profoundly different VSL's think and how this affects literacy outcomes. - Review VSL teaching strategies to understand why they are effective. - Take away effective strategies for reading, spelling and writing. |

About the PresenterMaxine Cowie has developed a holistic program for students with learning difficulties (particularly visual spatial learners) which has been successfully implemented in schools in Victoria and NSW. Maxine currently trains teachers in her techniques so that they can run the program within their school environment. Her passion is to ensure student's learn and gain self confidence by using their cognitive strengths and passions so that they experience success both in the school environment and in their lives. |
