About the Presenter

Clare Barrett is a psychotherapist and educator. Her 15 years as a teacher helped to inform her strong view that the most effective teachers are relational. Clare's Masters Thesis (in Experiential and Creative Arts Therapy) focuses on the essential nature of human relating and draws on the theories of attachment and trauma which inform the way in which humans relate to others and the world in general. Clare's training of teachers is engaging and experiential as she hopes to companion participants to a deeper understanding of student behaviours. She combines some useful evidence based information with reflective, multi-modal inquiries into how we approach our relationships with students. She currently practices as a psychotherapist in the not for profit sector in a very disadvantaged section of society and is also in private practice as a counsellor and consultant to educators and other welfare professionals.
