About the PresenterGary Thompson has 30 years experience in occupational health and safety across a diverse range of sectors including the education sector. His experience includes occupational health and safety management, WorkCover and rehabilitation management, and training management. This extensive experience has enabled him to develop innovative strategies that enable organisations to significantly reduce injury occurrences and WorkCover claims. He has done both consulting and training work for the Victorian and South Australian Education Departments. He has significant practical experience in designing and presenting innovative OHS training courses for principals, teachers, managers, employees, health and safety representatives, and health and safety committee members. Gary has also provided extensive assistance in the development of OHS policies and procedures for organisations seeking certification under AS/NZS 4801. He has been a sessional lecturer in OHS at TAFE and similar colleges in both Victoria and South Australia. Gary has also been an invited speaker at both local and overseas OHS conferences. Gary's formal qualifications include a Master of Applied Science (OHS) Degree; a Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hazard Management; an Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Occupational Health and Safety); and a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training. He is a member of the Risk Engineering Society of Australia. |
