As teachers we are often the most influential mentor that many students will have. It is the feedback we give students that is the most significant influence on student achievement. When you work consistently, communicate effectively, even the most challenging kids will surprise you. You get more time to teach.

When teachers put relationships at the core of their practice students work harder, set higher standards for themselves and work far more collaboratively. Students come to school for the ‘right’ reasons. So will you!

About the Presenter

Geoff Blair has been a teacher for over 30 years. He was a student manager for much of his career and developed his skills in working ‘with’ students as an administrator and teacher. He has presented around Australia and overseas. He has worked with ‘Tricky KIds’ and assisted them to ‘hop on board’ and create a future that sees them working effectively with other students. He has worked with whole classes to create positive and industrious classrooms. This has been done at the start of the year, at the beginning of a semester and at the start of a new topic. Geoff is a trained mediator (Vic Dept Justice) and has facilitated processes that have stopped bullying and repaired relationships between students.
