Restorative Practices promotes the building of school community through consistent and fair process. At the forefront of RP is the concept of relationships in the classroom and across the school; how to create and maintain them and repairing the harm when something goes wrong. When schools focus on responsibility and accountability it ensures that students achieve their best. Schools that employ these practices are safe and happy places; they are calm and orderly. In Restorative schools the community works together to set goals and methods to achieve them. When relationships are harmed the community commits to repairing them.

This two day interactive and practical workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to create a positive and productive learning environment using strategies from the Restorative continuum of practice. This is suitable for teachers, student managers and administrators.
Key features:
The Philosophy of Restorative Justice and its many applications Rethinking behaviour management in the classroom and across the school Collaborative processes to ensure consistency in practice and commitment from the whole school community

About the Presenter

Geoff Blair has been a teacher for over 30 years. He was a student manager for much of his career and developed his skills in working ‘with’ students as an administrator and teacher. He has presented around Australia and overseas. He has worked with ‘Tricky KIds’ and assisted them to ‘hop on board’ and create a future that sees them working effectively with other students. He has worked with whole classes to create positive and industrious classrooms. This has been done at the start of the year, at the beginning of a semester and at the start of a new topic. Geoff is a trained mediator (Vic Dept Justice) and has facilitated processes that have stopped bullying and repaired relationships between students.
