Event Information 6 pd hrsThe advent of the iPod, iPad and other mobile devices are beginning to attract attention from educators all around the world for a variety of reasons. Portability, quick startup, long battery life and most importantly ease of use are but a few of the reasons cited. The bigger question is though what changes they will bring to classroom practice? Questions such as: Do teachers need to learn how to work a whole new set of programs or applications? Can students still do the same activities they have done in What about the social aspects of mobile technologies, are they going to help or hinder learning? Don't the use of mobile technologies open up issues of ethics and safety? Do mobile technologies make it easier to collect and collate student information? What do mobile technologies have to do with “cloud computing” ? This practical session will explore the answers to all of these questions and more. Along the way we will look at some of the broader issues related to the use of mobile technologies and explore a range of apps and approaches. |

About the Presenter
Having spent more than thirty years as a teacher and leading teacher in primary schools John Pearce now runs his own education consultancy. John has had an ongoing interest in the use of ICT across the curriculum. This interest was recognized with a Microsoft Innovative Teachers Award and a VITTA Outstanding Primary Teacher Award. As |
