“Finding out about gifted children, trying to define their differences and identify and develop their talents, understanding how they feel and what they need to thrive and succeed - these are all pieces of the intricate puzzle facing many teachers of gifted children”
(AAEGT 2004)
This program will focus on gaining a greater understanding of what it means to be gifted and how we can cater for such students at both the school and classroom level.

Participants will leave with some practical strategies that they can apply in their classroom the next day!

Questions to be explored

  • What does it mean to be gifted?
  • Are their different types of giftedness?
  • How has our idea of what it means to be intelligent evolved?
  • What are some tools we can use to help us effectively identify students across the school?
  • What are some of the social and emotional issues gifted students may face?
  • What is the difference between enrichment and acceleration?
  • What curriculum models can guide us in our planning for gifted students?
  • How do we differentiate learning tasks ?
  • What opportunities can we offer beyond the classroom?
