Formative assessment helps teachers to monitor their students’ progress and to modify the instruction accordingly. It also helps students to monitor their own progress as they get feedback from their peers and the teacher.
Students also find opportunity to revise and refine their thinking by means of formative assessment. Finding practical, easy to use strategies for ongoing formative assessment is an important part of everyday teaching.
This workshop explores a wide range of proven strategies for effective and meaningful formative assessment that can improve student performance without resulting in an overwhelming correction load.

In this workshop participants will explore:

  • Quick-test games and activities for fast formative class assessment
  • Engaging activities for making test preparation enjoyable and rigorous
  • Class-room tested self-assessment strategies that are highly effective for teaching students to take greater ownership of their studies and reducing unnecessary correction
  • Effective Questioning Techniques that encourage deeper and more detailed class discussion and help you differentiate for every student
  • Practical ways to use new research such as Hattie & Timperlay to improve student performance
