This program will focus on gaining a greater understanding of what it
means to be gifted and how we can cater for such students at both the
school and classroom level.

You will leave with some practical strategies that you can apply in your classroom the next day!

  • Are their different types of giftedness?
  • What does Gifted /Learning Disability mean?
  • How can we identify these students in our class?
  • How has our idea of what it means to be intelligent evolved?
  • What are some tools we can use to help us effectively identify students across the school?
  • What are some of the social and emotional issues gifted students may face?
  • How do we help the parent of a gifted student? Parents and partners

FRIDAY March 16th, 2012

  • How do we develop a whole school strategic approach to catering for gifted students?
  • How are schools currently catering for gifted students? Looking at effective case studies
  • What is the difference between enrichment and acceleration?
  • What curriculum models can guide us in our planning for gifted students?
  • How do we differentiate learning tasks ?
  • What opportunities can we offer beyond the classroom?

About the Presenter

Anna Bennett has been an education consultant working in schools and organisations for the last seven years. Her passions and expertise include gifted education, professional learning cultures, beginner teachers and formative assessment. Previous to this she was College Head of Professional Development at a multi campus independent school and instigated the development of the gifted program in the middle school. Over the last 20 years Anna has held a variety of teaching and leadership positions at both the Primary and Secondary level.
