This workshop will focus on developing and documenting Literacy strategies within the English curriculum to target students of mixed abilities. It is a 'hands on' program that will enable you to brainstorm and review a range of strategies to address the Literacy needs of students (from comprehension skills to vocabulary) with varied learning styles. You will also be provided with the opportunity to map out these strategies across your own 7-10 English curriculum.
This workshop will explore:
• Literacy strategies that target varied learning styles (with examples of how to implement them)
• Methods to support teaching reading comprehension and vocabulary
• Key components of the Victorian Curriculum
The purpose of this session is to embed effective Literacy strategies in any unit of work to assist you in engaging all students. The workshop is open to teams and individuals who wish to explore strategies that engage learners in a mixed ability classroom, whilst reviewing their own curriculum needs.

About the Presenter
Ida Sakkal has taught for the past ten years as a English and Literature teacher at all secondary levels, in addition to working as a Literacy and Numeracy Coach. Whilst implementing a whole school approach, she has also coordinated and taught Literacy across year levels to support students of varying learning needs.
