Being a boy could be a serious liability in today's classroom. As a group, boys are seen to be noisy, rowdy and hard to manage. Many are labelled as messy, disorganised and won't sit still.
Young male liveliness, according to a recent study, leads teachers to underestimate their intellectual and academic abilities.
“Girl behaviour is the gold standard in schools,” says psychologist Michael Thompson. “Boys are treated like defective girls.”
This extremely practical, interactive and worthwhile workshop helps teachers, teachers' assistants, parents and administrators create the type of school experience that enables boys to become masters of their own life.
During this workshop you will get access to Greg's huge bag of tricks as well as taking away strategies that you can use the next school day in your class and your school.
Greg will investigate:
• Classroom strategies that really work
• How using praise badly can be totally counterproductive to boys performance
• How to get better time management for boys
• How to switch boys on to reading and writing
• How break times can be organised to improve boys behaviour and decrease bullying
• How to tackle behaviour change in boys
• Stuff that boys love.
