Amplifying Student Leadership – A Student Leadership Development Plan

Leadership is a serious business.

In these turbulent times school leaders need to be innovative, passionate, risk takers and they need to be encouraged no matter what their title is in your school.

They come in all types:

  • quiet exemplars,
  • charismatic,
  • integrity driven,
  • service oriented
  • models of persistence.

Amplifying student leadership enables your school to identify nurture and celebrate all of these leadership styles through encouraging student mentors, empowering teacher connection and providing a coaching structure that believes in and trains each type of leader at all levels of your school.

This approach empowers student leaders to become

  • Creators of collaboration through developing a shared vision, solving problems, encouraging curiosity, and advancing fairness
  • Templates for transformation through trying new things, creaking great examples and connecting to powerful role models
  • Arrangers of Awesomeness who empower others to be involved, start new initiatives, take responsibility, and explore all that is new in the school.
  • Representatives of The Group by challenging the process when it is necessary, asking difficult questions, finding out the true story and connecting to those who are left out.
  • Clear Communicators who lead with their heart, speak with truth, build bridges through technology relate the reality.

This one day workshop is open to all levels of school leaders, ESPECIALLY students.

This workshop details how to develop student leadership through

  • Student Representative Roles such as student councillors, head student positions, head of house etc.
  • Peer Mediation where student leaders become experts at conflict resolution and peace keeping.
  • Safe School Superheroes where students grow to be undercover school leaders who transform school yards into peaceful places through powerfully subtle interventions.
  • Peer Mentors who connect with students who need side by side academic and social assistance.
  • Classroom leaders who make teaching easier and learning flow.
  • Peer Enabled Reconstructed Teaching where students become an active part of a “teaching scrum” that boosts teachers’ instructional capacity, models learning, includes minority groups and improves academic outcomes.
