“Features Virtual AI Students so you can practice putting these strategies into action… a “world first” Education HQ magazine.
Many schools are reporting that their students are increasingly prone to distraction and off-task behaviour. This workshop offers teachers practical, easy-to-implement strategies for addressing these issues. It also provides teachers with an innovative way to practice these techniques: participants those who enroll in the course will be give free access to Virtual AI students designed to mimic common off-task behaviours and ways of arguing. Can you encourage Denying Dani to acknowledge her behaviour? Can you de-escalate Argumentative Abed when he wants to make a scene?
Based on Glen’s Book, Classroom Dynamics, the course will explore three key areas across the day:
Low-Level Interventions
- Non-verbal techniques and low key interventions for nudging students back to their learning quickly and quietly
- Techniques for getting and holding student attention and engaging reluctant learners
- Strategies for giving effective instructions and compelling commands – and for making seamless transitions between learning activities.
Higher-Level Interventions
- Effective responses for pivoting around resistant or argumentative behaviours and getting students back to their learning.
- Methods for calmly and directly challenging anti-social behaviour such as misogyny and homophobia
Addressing Entrenched Behaviour
- Techniques for mapping and responding to entrenched and extreme behaviours
- Engagement techniques for turning around class groups whose behaviour has become distracted and disruptive.
- Differentiated instruction for supporting students who can’t rather than won’t behaviour
Participants will get free access to the online course “Glen Pearsall’s Guide to Classroom Management” when they attend this workshop valued at $449.00+GST
It features the AI Virtual Students, animations of real classroom encounters and six more hours of course content on dealing with off-task student behaviour.
You will receive a copy of Glen’s Book “Classroom Dynamics” which will enhance your learning experience on the day and is a great reference for you moving forward.
