Conversations That Create Progress

Solution Building skills for everyday leadership

Leaders spend much of their day in conversation.  Conversations about performance, behaviour, wellbeing, change, improvement and what needs to happen next. Yet when someone brings us a problem, it is easy to get drawn into analysing what went wrong, offering solutions or taking responsibility for fixing it.

Conversations That Create Progress introduces leaders to a practical Solution Building approach for helping people think, recognise their own resources and move towards what they want to achieve.

Rather than providing another communication script, this highly practical workshop develops the skills to navigate real conversations as they unfold. Participants will learn how to listen for what matters, shift attention from problems towards possibilities, uncover what is already working, strengthen ownership and help people identify useful next steps.

Using real workplace situations, leaders will practise simple conversational approaches they can immediately use with staff, colleagues and teams.

The aim is not to avoid problems. It is to become more skilful at having conversations that turn problems into direction, possibility and progress.

Every conversation grows something. What do you want yours to grow?

Critical Agendas Speaker
Presented by Critical Agendas

Jason Pascoe

Jason Pascoe is a leadership consultant, coach, and facilitator specialising in Solution-Building Conversations and Host Leadership.

With over 20 years’ experience across education, health, and leadership development, Jason has worked with more than 50,000 educators and leaders across Australia and internationally. He is the Director of The Enactive Solution and Vice President of the Australasian Solution Focused Association.

Jason’s work is grounded in a simple idea: the quality of our conversations shapes the quality of our classrooms, teams, and outcomes.

In schools, this means helping educators:

  • handle challenging behaviour without escalation
  • reduce workload pressure by having more effective conversations
  • support student wellbeing without taking on more emotional burden
  • build stronger, more respectful relationships with students, colleagues, and families

His sessions are known for being highly practical, engaging, and immediately usable. Participants leave with simple tools and language they can apply straight away—in classrooms, staffrooms, and leadership conversations.

Rather than adding “one more thing,” Jason helps educators work smarter within the complexity they’re already navigating.

Drawing on Solution-Focused Practice and Host Leadership, Jason offers a clear, structured approach to:

  • leading without burning out
  • responding instead of reacting
  • creating small shifts that lead to meaningful change

If you’re looking for approaches that are realistic, evidence-informed, and actually work in busy school settings, these sessions are designed for you.

Classroom Dynamics – the latest strategies and solutions to positive classroom management – Glen Pearsall

I really enjoyed the small group size. The sessions were interactive and we not only saw Glenn demonstrate how he would use strategies himself but we heard from other educators on their challenges and thoughts and also saw video examples from other schools. I find this multi modal style of presentation much more engaging. It was also appreciated to have a copy of the book to take back to school and access to the online platform.

“Build Positive Relationships and a Positive Work Environment Within Your Administration Team/Office by Sally Learey”

This session was one of the most empowering workshops that I have ever done and I leave the session with extremely useful and relevant tools to use going forward. Thanks so much to Sally for leading us in the session so positively.

“Strategies to Thrive as a Year Level Co-ordinator by Sally Learey”

Sally was insightful and helped me to make clear connections to every day behaviours / emotions that I will need to recognise in my position. It really reiterated why I applied for this position in the first place as I think that often the purpose or the why is forgotten in an attempt to do everything for everyone.

Absolutely brilliant information, empowering us with many tools and skills to takeaway and work on. My colleague and I leave full of positive energy about how to approach the challenges of our admin roles.

Just a big Thank you for giving us the opportunity to attend the Critical Agenda Workshop yesterday.  David presented a great program, lots of handy strategies and he was very engaging and supportive. Highly recommended.  I was very happy we did not have to do any Role play’s.

Tina Hobbs – Administration Workshops

I have come away from this session feeling very inspired and so much more positive. I now have many new ideas/techniques/strategies regarding how I can better manage a workload that often feels overwhelming. Some of these can be implemented immediately while others are more long-term plans. Thank you for making this workshop so practical. I just wish that all school admin staff had the opportunity to undertake this course.
