Enhancing Teaching and Learning Outcomes by Incorporating Positive Psychology

A one day theoretical and practical workshop that explores the
guiding principals of Positive Education. There are references
to Positive Psychology.
The day will explore techniques that focus on the well-‐
being
of individual students and how this is enhanced by teachers in
a classroom.
In Positive Education, a spirit of co-operation
is modelled and
practiced. Mutual respect is valued as is the input from all
class members.
‘Positive mood produces broader attention, more creative
thinking and more holistic thinking.‘ Martin Seligman
Core topics:
• Flourishing: what it is and how it is achieved
• Signature Strengths: finding your qualities and those of
your students -then
figuring out how to use them
• Every day processes that contribute to Positive
Education including what teachers are already doing that
contribute to Positive Education in the classroom and across the school.
