Leaders in the Making: An Evidence-Based Toolkit for Schools
Grow confident, ethical student leaders who lift your whole school. This lively, evidence-based online workshop shows teachers how to spot leadership potential beyond the “usual suspects” and deliberately develop it. Using Renzulli’s Three-Ring Conception of Giftedness (ability × creativity × task commitment) and the Houndstooth Model (co-cognitive behaviours such as optimism, courage and empathy), we translate research into everyday classroom and co-curricular practice. The focus is inclusive, practical and aligned with the Victorian Curriculum Capabilities—Personal & Social Capability, Critical & Creative Thinking, Ethical Understanding—so student leadership becomes part of learning, not an add-on.
Across interactive scenarios, discussion and investigation, participants will build a leadership talent-spotting toolkit, design goal-setting and mentoring cycles, and rehearse teachable routines for communication, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict resolution. You’ll finish with a ready-to-run implementation plan and simple evaluation measures to track growth and impact across the year.
You’ll leave with:
- A practical identification guide using Three-Ring and Houndstooth lenses
- Lesson-ready activities (listening labs, dilemma discussions, case analyses)
- Mentor meeting templates, feedback stems and student reflection trackers
- A school-specific roll-out plan and progress checklist
Who it’s for: Principals, curriculum leaders, High Ability Practice Leaders, Gifted & Talented coordinators, year-level leaders and teachers who want to embed authentic, inclusive student leadership.
