Solution Building Conversations
Practical Tools to Reduce Burnout and Build Resilience in Education
The Challenge
Educators today face increasing emotional demands: supporting students in distress, guiding overwhelmed colleagues, and holding communities through complex change. Over time, this leads to secondary traumatic stress, emotional fatigue, and burnout.
The Response
Solution Building Conversations (SBC) provide a simple yet powerful way to respond. This strengths-based approach shifts conversations from draining to energising. SBCs help educators guide others toward progress while experiencing something equally powerful themselves: vicarious resilience — the boost we get when we witness growth, capability, and change in others.
“Solution-focused communication not only improves outcomes for those we support, it reduces burnout and enhances wellbeing for the practitioner.” — Medina & Beyebach (2014), Froerer et al. (2022)
