Successful activities for Language classes
Whether you are at the start of your teaching career and are looking to build up a bank of classroom activities, or you’ve been in the classroom for years and are looking for some fresh ideas, this workshop has something for everyone. Collected during Rowena’s 30 years in the classroom, the activities presented in this workshop are based on 2 fundamental questions: “What do I want my students to do in the language?” and “What do I want my students to know in/about the language?”. With that as the foundation, the activities presented in this workshop will cover all 5 macro-skills as well as vocabulary and grammar development, and intercultural understanding. Participants will explore:
- Zero preparation activities
- 5-minute activities
- Activities using technology
- Activities stolen from other subject areas and adapted for Language classes
Although the examples given in this workshop will come from French, the ideas presented are general in nature and can be applied in most Language classrooms, so teachers of all languages are encouraged to attend. Participants will also spend time producing activities to use in class immediately.
